At VALA NC, enrollment is designed to be simple, transparent, and accessible. As a public charter school, VALA NC provides a tuition-free, high-quality virtual learning option for families across North Carolina.

Enrollment Eligibility

VALA NC is a tuition-free public charter school, open to eligible students throughout the state.

Tuition-Free: VALA NC is a public school. There is no tuition cost for enrolled students.
Open to North Carolina Residents: Enrollment is open to all students who are legal residents of North Carolina, regardless of their district or county of residence.
Grades Served: VALA NC will serve grades K–6. Additional grades will be added in future years, pending approval.

VALA NC does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, disability, religion, sex, or socioeconomic status.

How to Enroll

Enrolling at VALA NC is a straightforward, step-by-step process designed to support families at every stage.

Step 1: Submit an Interest Form

Families begin by completing a short online interest form. This helps VALA NC share important updates, timelines, and enrollment information.

Step 2: Receive Enrollment Link

Once the enrollment window opens, families who submitted an interest form will receive an official enrollment application link via email.

Step 3: Provide Required Documents

Families will be asked to upload standard enrollment documents, which may include:

Proof of North Carolina residency
Student's birth certificate
Immunization records
Previous school records (if applicable)

Support is available if families need assistance gathering or submitting documents.

Step 4: Complete Orientation

Before the school year begins, families and students participate in a virtual orientation. Orientation introduces:

The VALA NC learning model
Technology platforms and expectations
Daily schedules and student support services
Communication and family engagement tools

Orientation ensures students and families feel confident and prepared.

Step 5: Begin Virtual Learning!

After orientation is complete, students officially begin learning at VALA NC through engaging, interactive virtual instruction supported by dedicated teachers and staff.

Lottery (If Required)

VALA NC adheres to all North Carolina public charter school laws regarding enrollment.

If the number of applications exceeds available seats, VALA NC will conduct a public lottery in accordance with state requirements.

The lottery process is random, fair, and transparent
Families will be notified of results promptly
Students not selected may be placed on a waitlist and offered seats as they become available

Details about lottery dates, procedures, and results will be clearly communicated to families.
