How to Apply to VALA NC?

While enrollment is not yet open, the information below outlines the expected process once the school is approved.

Step-by-Step Enrollment Process

Step 1: Submit an Application

Once enrollment opens, families will complete an online application form through the VALA NC website.

Step 2: Application Review Period

Applications will be collected during an open enrollment window. All eligible applications submitted within this period will be included in the selection process.

Step 3: Lottery (If Needed)

If the number of applicants exceeds available seats, a random lottery will be conducted in accordance with North Carolina charter school law.

No entrance exams
No academic requirements
Equal opportunity for all applicants

Step 4: Enrollment Confirmation

Families selected through the lottery (or admitted if seats are available) will receive instructions to complete enrollment.

Step 5: Complete Enrollment Requirements

Families will submit required documents, which may include:

Proof of North Carolina residency
Student records (if applicable)
Any required school forms

Step 6: Welcome to VALA NC

Students will be officially enrolled and prepared for the start of school.
